Behind the Design: BETH EDEN

Goals

  1. Push users to engage with the church (watch sermons, join online services, etc.)

  2. Provide easy access to info about the congregation, church events and resources.

  3. Motivate users to volunteer with or donate to the church.

Problem Areas

  1. Name doesn't appear anywhere on the homepage

  2. Lack of imagery representing the congregation and its members

  3. No clear call to action

  4. Unnecessary repeating info throughout the homepage as well as external pages

  5. Uninspired/uninviting headlines and copy

  6. No clear hierarchy between bottom sections creates cluttered layout

Solutions

  1. Wordmark logo appears in sticky navigation at the top of the site at all times

  2. Imagery that accurately represents Beth Eden’s predominantly black congregation

  3. Thoughtful headlines and inviting copy to welcome potential members

  4. Clear call to action, driving users to the watch page for sermons and live streams

  5. Established a clear hierarchy between sections, where content that meets both site objectives and user needs are prioritized

  6. Consolidated repeating info into a single section with clear organization

  7. Calendar to showcase and organize events

  8. Donation requests at the bottom as opposed to pushing it up front, but always in the footer
